This is a free site that provides a complete course in essential writing skills.

The ThinkerHaving difficulty getting your ideas on paper?  Do you want to improve your writing skills?  Are you looking for tips on writing paragraphs and essays?

This site can help you refresh writing skills that have become rusty and give you some new writing ideas.

You will learn about different methods of organizing and developing your writing.  And you will learn how to select an appropriate writing topic, generate ideas, develop a topic sentence or thesis statement, organize your thoughts, and edit and proofread your work. 

Like any other skill, writing improves with guidance and practice. It’s hard work, but gaining an understanding of writing techniques can help you avoid “writer’s block” and help you become a confident and effective writer.


Sample student compositions are included which demonstrate how many everyday topics can be crafted into effective paragraphs and essays.
